Lengro’s Beauty Box

Starting with the Basics

By Izzy Milne

A quick hello to all the readers of Lengro!

My name is Izzy Milne and I’m currently a studying theatrical hair and makeup student in West Sussex.

I’ve had the pleasure of being asked to fill the makeup page spot here and I’m very excited to share all kinds of tips and product knowledge I’ve learned along the way. I think it’s important to realise that everyone is still learning and growing and you never know everything, so have a play because at the end of the day you can wash it all off and start again.

Makeup should be fun and free and each person will have their own favourite style to embrace, whether that’s a minimal natural look or one with bold colourful flare – I’m a mixture of both! To have a look at some of my previous work you can check out my Instagram @izzym_mua for all sorts of makeup ideas to get your creativity flowing.

As a first challenge for everyone reading this, I want you to rummage around all the makeup you own and pick out one item that you rarely reach for. It could be a bright lipstick or a pretty blush or even some eyelashes if you aren’t used to wearing them and put it in an open space where you can see it the next morning. The idea is to try something new and step out of your comfort zone, be brave because you never know you might learn to love it. I know I’ve neglected products and then finally having the courage to try something new or even old, and if I’m being honest it probably didn’t look great the first time but I kept practicing and my routine has changed so much from doing this. Make the most with what you have and get experimenting!

Oh and P.S. go wash your makeup brushes! We both know they could do with a dust off and clean, any soap will do and if you want them feeling like new you can add the tiniest amount of conditioner afterwards.
